Dedication, hard work, and discipline are what have guided Keri McBrien’s over two-decades-long journey as a cannabis grower. A mother to two boys, she spent her days working as a pharmacy technician and went late into the nights learning everything there is to know about cultivating cannabis.
As a licensed ACMPR grower, Keri prided herself on finding the best genetics for various medical outcomes that pharmaceuticals sought to address, and developed a strong passion for phenohunting with this in mind. She completed her Level 7 Masters Certificate at Cannabis Training University in Denver, Colorado in 2016, where she was trained in all aspects of the cannabis industry from business and laws to cultivation and extractions.
Keri conceptualized She Whispers to Plants (SWTP) in 2016, where she focused on phenohunting, developing world-class genetics, and finding her groove in the art and science of growing cannabis. She Whispers to Plants has developed an apprenticeship program to educate new and emergent growers through a curriculum that honours old-school legacy growing while adapting to the regulations of Canada’s regulated cannabis industry.
Beyond cultivation, SWTP is a lifestyle. Keri embraces cannabis as a companion and accompaniment to all aspects of life and that there are so many ways this powerful plant can be honoured beyond consumption.

Through flexible education courses, consultation packages, apprenticeships, and cultivation articles, Keri shares her knowledge of the skills and work that goes into growing top-quality cannabis with the consumer’s needs in mind. Keri is an advocate for the inclusion and safety of female growers in cannabis, wanting to build an industry as diverse as those who consume the plant. She is keen on seeing Canada reclaim its reputation for “good bud” by educating up-and-coming growers on what achieving that really means.

From setting up a grow, to ensuring the right program of nutrients, troubleshooting pest issues, to how to harvest, trim, and cure cannabis, SWTP offers topic-specific training and long-term apprenticeships to help new and emergent growers extend and perfect their skill sets.
GROW OPERATIONS
SWTP’s Keri has worked in grows of all sizes, from a dozen plants to a few hundred plants. SWTP knows what a grow operation needs as its scaled up. Keri works with LPs and micro-cultivators to set up grow facilities and create Standard Operating Procedures, ensuring her clients’ continued success as they grow.

Larger cannabis grows require a strong team and sets of SOPs that will ensure all aspects of the grow are taken care of with meticulous attention to detail. Having overseen several teams, SWTP knows how to maximize the strengths of staff, streamline operations, and ensure that everyone within a grow space is set up for success in their cultivation work.
